Mid 19th Century Rope Twist -Half Leaves of Tobacco. Also known as “pigtails” or larger variety call “hogtails.” This type was sold through Indian traders or sutlers in the west. This one was purchased years ago, found in the excavation of the USS Cairo, a US Navy Ironclad that sunk in the Mississippi River during the Civil War.
