Description
MVM 5th Place Shooting Medal & Name Badge identified to Private W.B. Daniel, Co. “A,” 6th Massachusetts Regiment, in the 1883 Soldier’s Match.
The medal is a gold pin brooch with bullet suspended, with chains to a silver ladder name bar (name on back), with a few more links with engraved silver shield. A separate name plate in polished bronze is pin backed, and has partial Boston maker’s address on back.
This award was mentioned in the Mass Adjutant General’s Report for 1883, with other copies from that report concerning this piece.
Nearly 3 1/2 inches high.
