Sold by Boston retailer, made by STETSON.
What a quality hat, made of gray fur felt wool by one of America’s premier hat makers, John B. Stetson. This 1911 pattern campaign hat for officer’s was worn into and perhaps beyond WWI by their owners. This hat has 5 rows of stitching around the brim, and a lighter shade of silk banding which really set the hat off nicely. The hat cords are for an officer made of black and gold woven threads (appears to be the pattern 1899).
The interior is excellent as well with the sweatband showing little wear, bearing the Stetson, and Talbot Co. Boston, Mass stamps. Sizing label present and reads, 7 1/8. The only flaw is some moth tracking on the underside of the brim, not badly and not deep into the wool, but is noticeable when held at different angles of light.
The hat looks super in the photos and the photos don’t lie.
