This is a scarce New York Naval Militia cap circa 1900 in very good condition, made by Rumford Bros. Wilmington, Delaware. Inside the sweatband is what appears to be the initial “K”. No other identifying marks found on the cap.
There is some wear and discoloration on the surface of the cap, wear and areas of fading on the visor and the chin strap and toning on the bullion cap insignia. The stitching to the sweatband has come undone in several areas (see pictures); light wear to the sweatband overall.
The cap is not marked with a size, but appears to be a size 7 approx.
