Description

Mounted on the typically used pattern  wooden shield by Francis Bannerman, Sons, along with an original musket flint intended for a U.S. flintlock muskets & rifles, is this post War of 1812 vent pick, and brush set; without researching, I want to say it is the model 1819?

Usually attached to the shoulder strap of the cartridge box, for easy access to clean the vent hole (or touch hole) of the breech, and brush away burnt gun powder residue from the pan, thus preventing misfires.

Constructed of brass components other than the stiff bristles of the brush. (these get dry and often fall out over time, most of it is intact here, but has been glued some time past).

The flint is held by heavy wire, and an old typed note on the back side has the description.  A brass hook is applied for hanging.

Shield is nearly 8 inches.

Fine condition.
