Union Case Manufactured By Litchfield & Parsons & Co -Sailor With Flag & Telescope. This 1/16th Gutta Percha case has a tintype of a young man in civilian clothing, who may have been a sailor at one time. The manufacturer’s label is beneath the image, and shows a child’s pencil markings scribbled over it.

The case is in fine condition with minimal wear, with no chipping along outer edges. Both sides show the same image of a sailor hold both a flag and telescope, while standing on a deck with a small carriage gun beside him. Most likely a case produce before and during the Civil War.
