Description

WW1 British “Brodie” Helmet With 28th Division Insignia. This pattern Brodie has the banding on the rim, and having its original OD paint.  The British helmets were first issued to these Pennsylvania troops initially upon their arrival in France, in May of 1918. The 28th had a good combat record in the Great War.

The helmet has the full lining and leather chinstrap, both of which are in very good condition.  Viewing from the underside, one can see the easiest way to determine a British helmet be looking at how the chinstrap loops are applied using staple pins.

The bright red paint for the 28th Division, the Keystone, is original and shows some wear; less than the helmet paint since the unit insignia was painted toward the end of the war, as the Keystone was not adopted until October 27, 1918.

A very nice example.
