Description
This M1 helmet has fixed bale and front seam, and a scarce camouflaged paint over 34th “Red Bull” Infantry Division insignia. The red bull insignia was painted first (red bull on black background) with a number between the horns, and does not appear to be a “34,” but another number I can’t make out.
Unquestioned wear and paint on steel pot surface. Typical interior to steel pot with that filthy wartime-wash basin, etc. look. Traces of the soldier’s initials are painted in white at the back just above the rim.
The liner is probably a replacement, and has traces of red painted covering most of the lower front surface over the natural finish.
This division participated in 6 major campaigns in North Africa and Italy, and part of its troops were made up with Nisei, Japanese Americans enlisted in the US Army.
A super combat painted M1.
