Description

CDV – Private Henry Shock 5th Maryland Infantry.

Henry Shock enlisted as a private into Co. C. of the 5th Maryland Infantry on November 4, 1861.  He deserted on June 2nd of 1863 shortly after the battle of Antietam, Md, where the regiment suffered mightily losing 32 killed in action, 118 wounded, 1 POW, and 2 missing.

He is the only Shock listed in the database.  A notation on the bottom of the mount reads, “Grandfather Shock / Mothers father ?”  Photographed by Coss & Leach, Baltimore.

Very good condition.
