Description
Presentation Box From President Marcos of the Philippines- General Lawson Archive.
The box is made of thin panels of wood, painted black with bone or shell decorative inlays on the top and sides of the box. The brass presentation plaque reads, “Presented By / President & Mrs. Ferdinand E. Marcos / Republic of the Philippines.” The box measures 9 inches square x 2 5 inches high. The most convenient time for then Brigadier/MG Lawson to have received this was a the Presidential military aide to either President Richard Nixon, or Gerald Ford. The gift box is not up to the high quality souvenirs given out to dignitaries, but to lower echelon personnel.
The box was used by General Lawson as a ditty box of misc, and a good number of these items were present when I purchased it. I added some insignia, etc. from the archive to round-out the lot. I included a few photos of the general from different periods of his career.
