Description

Telescopes such as this example, were widely used during the 18th century in Europe and here in America during the Revolutionary War.  A well made piece, incorporating finely turned brass furniture on an octagonal tube of solid mahogany. The optics are excellent; sliding lens covers on both ends of the telescope, and a single draw using multiple sections of brass tubing fused together.

There is no name on the draw near the eye piece, but probably dates from the 1760s-90s. The mahogany tube is just under 12 inches long, and measures 22 5/8 fully extended.

Brass surfaces are in fine condition with light patina overall.  The wood is fine as well.

A very nice usable accessory from the 18th Century.
