Description

10th Cavalry Muster Roll For Field & Staff.  Signed twice by Major George Wheeler Schofield. The document records the names of the Assistant Surgeon, J. Morris Brown, and Captain A.F. Rockwell, Assistant Quartermaster. The third listing is for an Ordnance Sergeant William Ferguson, who as mentioned in remarks, noted for his 2nd re-enlistment of ten continuous year of service and an increase in pay of $3.00 dollars due clothing.  Signed at Fort Sill, Indian Territory, April 30, 1872. These three men have signed the document.

George Wheeler Schofield,(1833 -1882), was a career army officer who was a Brevet Brigadier General during the Civil War. He served on the frontier with the 41st Infantry, the Black 10th Cavalry & 6th Regiments of Cavalry, superintendent of the US Military Academy, and commanding general of the Army.  The Schofield Army Revolver was named for him, Schofield having made modifications through patents, and received payment on each gun sold to the army on the Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver .

There are some openings in two folds that need repair, otherwise in fine condition.
