Description
This scarce 1897 Heavy Artillery first class gunner’s badge was made at Rock Island Arsenal, and has a gunner’s quadrant for its central design.
The badge came out of a 50 year collection of US Artillery material, and included was a Marksman badge with red enameling for artillery, and a photograph of a 4th Artilleryman of Battery D, wearing this pair on his 5 button fatigue blouse. There was no identification, and I don’t know if this lot was assemble or not.
Overall height of the badge is 50mm. A good amount of original bronze finish remaining. No markings.
The first we have ever acquired.
