Description
1905 Dated Schuylkill Arsenal EM Infantry Dress Coat & Cap – 24th Infantry.
Nicely marked Schuylkill Arsenal coat dated 1905 in the left sleeve lining. Coat is has the 1902 pattern rimless eagle buttons made by Horstmann, Philadelphia. The cuff buttons are missing from both sleeves. Some small mothing but nothing large. The chest cords are very good with some fraying in a few areas. Collar and cap insignia for Company “H” 24th (African American) Infantry.
The cap shows some wear, with sporadic mothing not nothing large or detracting. The chinstrap is missing the leather guide, now being held by a straight pin. 1902 side buttons. The sweatband is mostly loose from the cap, and damaged towards the forehead area. No contract markings are visible.
Overall the coat and cap are very good, needing a little help, but worthy of repair being a nice example of a U.S. arsenal coat.
