A beautiful livery coat, decorated with silver bullion decoration on the coat. Scottish made of silk/satin waistcoat with a cotton backing, as well as a small belt for fitting with a Japanned buckle dated “1880”. The inside of the coat is showing wear on lower parts of the back of the coat hem areas, the upper inside of the coat and waistcoat show black marks/ smudges. See all photos for details. The collar is a nice velvet. All original.
No Identification on the coat and it is too well made to be a costume. Don’t know what Clan used this tartan.
The livery coat was worn by servant staff for the wealthy gentry.
