.45/70 Springfield bayonet scabbard with brass hook frog for Fort A. Lincoln modification prairie belt. This is a 1878 trial scabbard designed for use with the 1876 prairie belt that was modified with 3 one inch brass “O” rings to hang various ordnance from (bayonet, trowel bayonet, etc. The frog is very good and is attached to a metal scabbard that has seen a better day. With some work, this frog could be removed on placed on a better scabbard.

Well marked on the body, ” A.W. SMITH,”with “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” on the other side. “US” marked on leather hanger. One brass rivet secures the frog to scabbard.
