Description
71st Regiment New York Shoulder Belt Plate. A dress shoulder belt plate for an enlisted uniform from the Spanish American War era. Rolled brass plate with applied nickel-silver number.
This is a well known and historic unit, and in this period was involved in the Santiago, Cuba campaign, at San Juan Hill, and the Siege of Santiago. They fought along side Colonel Roosevelt’s Rough Rides, and several regular army regiments.
