Description
This unnamed Ike jacket belonged to a PFC, having served first with the 83rd Infantry Division, and then with the 18th Infantry of the 1st Division in Occupation in Germany. His EAME ribbon with 2 campaign stars suggests that he had not accrued enough service points to rotate back to the States, and thus was sent to the 1st Division (that is my opinion, not having the info needed to make it a statement of fact).
This Ike jacket is very clean. Both shoulder sleeve insignia are machine made types, and the 1st Division patch may very well be either English or German made, PFC chevrons, and 3 Overseas bars. Lapels have collar disks, and Nuremberg made DUIs for the 18th Infantry Regiment. Both are maker marked on back of these screw back insignia. One of the DUIs has significant chipping of the blue paint, but if carefully done, would be fine.
This soldier was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct, EAME with 2 campaign stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. He wears on each shoulder a fourragere awarded to the units he served with; The Belgian Croix de Guerre on the right, and the French Medaille Militaire on the left shoulder.
A sharp looking Ike. Some coupons for a Schumann Snack-Bar were found in the pocket.
