Description
9th AAF Flight Surgeon’s Ike Jacket Group. A nice lot for this named Ike jacket belonging to Captain William Henry Kaufman, Flight Surgeon, 9th AAF. I have not done any research on this group. The jacket is identified with period ink inside on the lining, “CAPT / Kaufman / 0 31832.” Kaufman purchased his jacket from the Quartermaster, the jacket contract tag dated June, 1944. He wore an English made 9th AAF patch; 5 overseas bars; US and Medical officer’s collar brass with earlier style clutches; un-hallmarked gilt flight surgeon’s wings (3 1/8″ wide- clutch back); American Defence (w/ star), American Campaign, EAME (w/ 1 silver star- 1 bronze = 6 campaigns), and WWII Victory medals. On the other side of the Ike, is a Presidential Unit Citation with 1 Oak lead cluster, and the French Fourragere.
The officer’s trousers are not named, contract dated 4/ 44. Both Ike and trousers are in fine condition with only the minutest of mothing.
Other items include two scarfs; one with both tailored name label and stencil, made of a beige wool, and the other is a white silk with fringe. There is some more insignia, medals, English made ribbon, and unit citation bars, and a souvenir packet of 20 photos of the Liberation of Paris.
A nice clean identified group
The shirt and tie were not Kaufman’s and props only.
