Description
CBI Theater Made Bush Jacket & Trousers.
A wonderful example of a commonly worn uniform in the theater of war, where the climates were most oppressive. U.S. personnel were influenced by the extensive use by their British and Commonwealth allies. This light weight khaki cotton, 4 pocket jacket and trousers are not identified to the Air Corps captain who worn them. All the plastic buttons are present. The belt with brass buckle is original to the jacket. 7 belt loops for distributing weight. Same material as the jacket.
Trousers were made with a long length in the leg, for faster manufacture, then a quick hemming would set the desired length for the individual. The trousers are not as commonly found a the jackets, and to have a matching pair is an important element.
The collar insignia, and captain’s rank bars are directly embroidered, and both patches are theater made. The left shoulder has the typical China Burma Indian patch, made if a ribbed cotton, and the right sleeve has a AAF Headquarters patch with direct embroidery on a cotton background.
Excellent condition.
