CDV – General & Mrs. George McClellan (1823- 1894), and wife Ellen Mary Marcy Image sold by H.Terry Sag Harbor, Long Island.

A West Point graduate, and commander of the Union Army from Nov 1861 to March 1862. Abraham Lincoln thought him to be a great organizer, but difficult to engage with the Confederate Army, mainly Robert E. Lee. Ran on the Democratic ticket for president in the 1864 election, and lost to his boss, Old Abe.  He later became governor of New Jersey.  Commanded the Union Army through some of the most crucial early battles of the Civil War before being replaced by Ambrose E. Burnside.
