CDV – Major General Nathaniel Banks.
Full standing image of Banks in dress uniform, chapeau, and 1840 pattern general officer’s sword. His overcoat is draped on a chair at his side. He was an American politician and army officer. Governor of Massachusetts 1858-61. Appointed by President Lincoln as one of the first generals appointed by political means. He had little success in the early eastern campaigns, and letter had command in the Army of the Gulf.
