George R. Pendleton enlisted in the 10th Massachusetts Infantry, in June of 1862, and deserted. He again enlisted into the 1st Maryland Cavalry in November of 1862, and arrested in February of 1864. Pendleton was wounded at the battle of the Wilderness three months later. He apparently was returned to the 10th Mass, and was in the Battle of the Wilderness with that regiment when wounded, and was mustered out in July of 1864 at Springfield, Mass. Interesting history.
Signed, “George R. Pendleton To Miss May E. Windett, Lancaster, Mass.”
Very good.
