Hard to improve on this sweet German import saber, a type purchased by both North & South during the Civil War.

Description
Civil War M1840 Import Saber, unmarked but appears to be produced by KIRCHBAUM & CO, SOLINGEN.
35 1/2 inch blade, in excellent condition with original polish with no embellishing. (a new piece of leather used for a makeshift washer).
17 turns grip wire. Leather is very good, some dryness and chipping of leather.
Pointed quillion.
2 screw scabbard, each side of the throat. Fine condition with untouched patina.
These import sabers were purchase from both North and South.
A super untouched saber.
