Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver

Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver, Serial Number “34922.”

The serial number range for this Colt revolver is just post Civil War. Considered by many collectors to be the most streamlined design of Colts of this period.  In .36 caliber, and having a 6 1/2 inch barrel, with all matching numbers.  The barrel has the New York address.  The finish is very good -fine overall on barrel, rebated and half fluted cylinder, with blue mixing with plum brown. Lever, frame, and hammer show little case color.  Walnut grips retain most of the original varnish.  Mechanics fine.  A few small dings overall, mostly smooth metal.

A popular revolver with officers in a larger caliber, and used until the issue of larger frame revolver in .45 caliber using metallic cartridges.
