Description

Normally, the eagle insignia in gold bullion for the 1895 officer’s garrison cap is sewn directly to the cap. I have seen many examples over the years where these pre made insignia intended to either to reduce cost for the customer or made in Manila, or other foreign manufacture.

This eagle is finely embroidered, and still retains great color.  The high of the bullion eagle is approximately 2 inches. The dark blue wool is nicely trimmed.  There never was any lettering applied in the banner (E Pluribus Unum).

I dare not claim to state the place of manufacture, however, most of the loose embroidered eagle insignia came from a source where a good deal of the material was Philippine made.

Condition is fine, with one small tear in the upper section of the wool, and without handling, is nearly undetectable.

You collect insignia and you don’t want the whole hat, this is the way to go!
