Framed Tinted Albumen Of Captain Edwin E Day – 10th Massachusetts Infantry.
Edwin E. Day from Greenfield, Ma. enlisted in June of 1861 into Company “G”, 10th Mass. Infantry. He was killed on May 31, 1862, at the Battle of Fair Oaks, Virginia. The image of Day is a nice view, with forage cap on the table next to him, Identifying his regiment, and a good grip on his 1850 foot sword.
The framed image has the original period mat and frame which measures overall 11.5 x 13 3/4 inches. The last collector has opened the back to examine and placed the ID in pencil on the lower part of the frame. A sketch of Day is found on the Civil War data page verifying the subject.
Image and frame are in fine condition.
