Letter From Springfield Armory To Colt Patent Firearms – 1863.

“U.S. Armory Springfield, Sept. 15th 1863.

Colts Patent Fire Arms Manf Co., Hartford, Conn,

I have to report 2 Saber Bayonets & Scabbards, short on your Invoice dated Sept 2nd 1863, which please forwars as soon as possible.

Very Respectfully  Your Hb Servant,

This letter to Colt relates to the shipment of Colt altered Mississippi Rifles converted at Hartford to accept the saber bayonets.

Edward Ingersoll became a Military Storekeeper in 1841, entering service from Massachusetts; Captain ordnance storekeeper, July 1866, major and paymaster at Springfield Armory in 1868, retired from service 1882, died Jan. 28, 1891.

One page letter without cover.  Very good condition.
