Lot of 5 WWI phrase books used by American Soldiers in WWI.

  • Manuel de Conversation / FRANCAISE & ANGLAISE.  Pour Civils et Militaires. Paris. Soft covers, 64 pages.  Roughness on spine and edges, mostly on the spine.
  • THE KOLYNOS “PARLAY VOO BOOKLET”,  By Con. F.N. Maude, C.B. and Frank Scudamore, Late war correspondent of The Times and The Daily News.  For gratuitous distribution to  the men of the United States Army and Navy with the compliments of /THE KOLYNOS COMPANY, New Haven, Conn.  Soft cover, 40 pages, fine condition.
  • The Soldier’s French Phrase Book, with compliments of Felt & Tarrant Mfg. Co. , Chicago.  Soft cover, 54 pages plus memoranda and advertising in rear.  Soldier’s name written on title page, “Ray Chism / Jamestown.” Has some notes in memorandum section, place name on cover.  Very good.
  • FOR THE MAN GOING TO THE FRONT / THE SOLDIERS’ ENGLISH AND FRENCH CONVERSTION BOOK, By Walter M. Gallichan, 1917.  Stiff linen covers, 128 pages, First owned by “C.E.Butler” (stenciled), then “A.B. Phifer, 1st Lt Inf. USR, A.A.F.”  Title page in place, but separated from rest of text.  General wear, overall good.
  • The ACTIVE-SERVICE FRENCH BOOK FOR SOLDIERS & SAILORS.  By E.F. Harper.  London 6th Edition.  Linen covers, 32 pages. Some staining on cover, general use.  very good.

All of these books are geared for military usage.  All these types were used by American Soldiers during WWI.
