Mexican War Era Chamois Officer’s Gauntlets SOLD

Mexican War Era Chamois Officer’s Gauntlets.  I have never owned an earlier pair of gauntlets of this period before; they are magnificent. Made of buff chamois leather, lined in white kid leather.

There are small buttons at the wrist of each gauntlet, that are attached to a chamois strap that will allow the gauntlet to expand for wear with an overcoat, or for the comfort of the wear.  Three lines of stitching embellish the back of the wrist.

Overall condition is fine.  Palms are slightly soiled, with some minor moth tracking and minute holes.

A scarce pair that once belonged to a New York State general’s grouping, without identification.
