Model 1874 McKeever Cartridge Box With Modification For Use On The Prairie Belt. This is the type II pattern with addition of combination tool compartment, and the continued use of brass staples on the body connecting to flap. US in oval on flap. Stamped Watervliet Arsenal on closure tab. The modification is the cutting of the belt loops and adding ties, to allow expansion for use on the prairie belt. Held 20 rounds of .45/70 cartridges. Like the Hagner models, used with the Palmer Brace System.
The canvas loops are extremely dry, and chipping badly, but the importance here is the scarce modification.
Very good exterior with some scuffing, light crackling, poor interior.
