National Association of U.S. Naval Veteran’s Badge with ribbon.

National Association of Naval Veteran’s Badge.   In finding this illustration from the 14th Annual Reunion from 1899, one can assume the association began in 1885. The badge is made of gilt brass and silvered, the later being an eagle clutching a federal shield with the words, “DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP.”  The anchors each bear dates of 1861 & 1865 indicating Civil War service.   The eagle grips a riband with the name of the association upon it as well. The ribbon was tearing nearly the entire way and had to be repaired with acid free tape.

A simple pin brooch has no Maker’s mark..
