Oval Silver Plated Snuff Box – Gentleman Coming To The Rescue. The scene shows a gentleman dismounting his horse to assist a lady who has been thrown from her’s. Marked on front panel, “Patd Jan 24, 1860 – C. Parker.” of Parker Bros games fame from the 19th Century.
A very busy snuff box. Stamped twice on the bottom, “J.O. Stone.” The item came with some Civil War material, and ran the name, finding a “J.Stone, Co. C, NH 14 Infantry.” It could be his but not confirmed.
Made of silver plate – well worn, with a pressed design.
Condition is used, showing dirt, tarnishing, dings, dents, wear, but working quite nicely.
Size is 3 1/4 inches long.
Hinge works quite nicely.
