Photo, Shooting Trophy, & National Lancers 1908 Member Badge – George P. Cooley, MVM.  George P. Cooley was one of the best shooters in the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, and over his long career, was a member of 4 different units, 1st Infantry, 1st Artillery, Mass Naval Militia, and National Lancers.

The portrait photo is mounted on gray mat, with image size being approx. 4 x 5.5 inches.  Photographed by Elmer Chickering, Boston. The photo shows Colley wearing a portion of his shooting medal, and unit badges. The silver plate trophy is 6.5 inches high with three handles, engraved, “Co, B Naval Brigade / Nov. 26th 1899 / S.S. CLASS . 1st PRIZE / also / HIGHEST SCORE / Won by / GEO.P. COOLEY.”.  His National Lancer badge is in white metal, made by the Boston Badge Co..

Condition of these three items are in Excellent condition.  The lot also includes some paper work on Cooley, along with a reproduced photograph of the Naval Brigade company Cooley was a member of. (his image shows him in the middle of two men).

The copy of the original group before it was broken up some time ago, shows the most interesting career of Cooley by the uniforms, and medals, etc.  None of this in my possession.
