Description
Most likely made in Manila, this bullion eagle insignia for the 1895 white summer garrison cap is a high quality piece. It appears that the insignia was once on a cap, and has some light soiling, and threads on the reverse remaining that were used to sew to the cap. The regulations for the summer cap called for wear without the insignia, however, there are numerous examples seen in period photography from the Spanish American War and Philippine Insurrection era.
Approximately 2 inches in height, the bullion is sewn directly to the white wool, and then backed with another wool to hide the threads on the back side.
The condition if very good-fine with age toning overall.
