Description
WWI Era U.S. Navy Ensign Cased Chapeau, Epaulets & Belt.
This cased set consists of a U.S.Navy officer’s full dress chapeau, pair of shoulder epaulettes, and dress sword belt.
All contained in a black japanned tin case purchased from Rice & Duval, New York.
- The chapeau has a label for Rice & Duval , and has little wear like all components. It is labeled a size 7.
- Epaulets are made in France, and so marked, also initials F.B. stamped on the shoulder hook, and L & R shoulder stampings on each. Light rubbing to the leather undersides, but gilt wire, and black felt is excellent. Super bright anchor and rank insignia.
- The Blue cloth dress sword belt is very good, with one area of red staining; gilt on belt metal pieces, and snap swivels are excellent. These belts are seen around, and if one wished, could replace that belt, but it remains in the lower lidded compartment under the chapeau.
The condition of the cased set in Excellent. Typical light wear, scratches to the outer sides of the case.
