WWII USN MKV Signal Flare Pistol & Holster.

This Navy flare pistol exhibits more of a pistol looking appearance than its Army cousins. A button on the left side of the frame once pushed allows the barrel to drop for loading. The pistol fires a 10 gauge flare.  Marked on the top of the barrel, “SIGNAL PISTOL. MARK 5  R.F. SEDGLEY, INC, 1944.”  The number 242692-A is stamped on both barrel and frame, and grip (a number code appears after the “A” (1 thru 3) corresponding to each of the 3 main components

Barrel and frame appears to be made of aluminum, with the grip made with bakelite.  Dark finish to overall metal parts in very good condition, grip showing some dings and scratching and general wear.

Mechanics fine.

Included is a 10 gauge dummy shell for display.

The canvas holster without maker stamp, is marked “SIGNAL PISTOL HOLSTER / MK.5.”  Lift-the-dot snap base has pulled away form the body of the holster.  Soiled but otherwise good condition. with wear commensurate with that of the pistol.
