Description
MVM 1st Class – Second Variant Revolver Badge 1894. A more elaborate design that the original pattern produced the year before.
Bronze metal, with a plain round ring mount, with applied shield bearing “MVM” superimposed over crossed sabers, cannon barrels, & anchor (the anchor representing the Mass Naval Militia). Suspended from this is the round section with wreath border and Mass State Seal at center (Chief Massasoit).
Note the ring of white enamel; this represents the branch of service within the MVM. White was for Staff Corps, Blue was for infantry, Yellow for cavalry, and red for artillery.
I have only seen a few of these, and never saw a ribbon for one, as I am assuming the ring for for suspending from a ribbon.
52mm high.
Fine condition.
