U.S.S. Arizona was laid down at Brooklyn, New York in 1914, launched June 1915, and commissioned October 1916. The Arizona is seen in this image sailing out of the East River, after having left for her shakedown cruise less than a month before, but she stripped her turbines and had to return to New York for repairs, and again leaving New York in December, when this photo was taken.
Note she is lacking her scout plane catapults added in 1920.
A fantastic Birdseye view of this most famous American battleship in her newness, with New York City and the Brooklyn Bridge just behind.
The photo is framed, but a long time ago without a mat, thus some lifting of small sections of the image. There is no damage to the ship or the tugboats, (see photos).
This is the first time I have seen this image on the market.
